Some moves collide with a flight: a job that starts the next morning, a holiday booked before the chain slipped, or a student flying after the family has loaded the house. The van is not the answer. This note is about the gap, not about ranking taxi companies. We do not review firms and we do not publish scores.
Split the luggage
Anything that must fly with you stays out of the removal van. Put passports, medication and the suitcase in a car or in the hall by the door you will leave from. Tell the crew those items are not going on the van. Once a suitcase is in a Luton behind a sofa, nobody wants to unload the street to find it.
If you no longer have a car because it is full, book the taxi to the address that will still have the bags at flight time. That might be the old house before the keys go back, or a relative’s address, not the new house if you will not be there to open it.
Time it around the keys
Completion can run late. Do not book a taxi that assumes you hold keys at 10:00 if your solicitor has said “sometime after lunch”. Give the taxi firm a phone number that works on the day, and a second number for the person standing with the bags.
If the flight is the next day, a simple overnight near the interchange can be easier than sleeping in a house with no bedding. See where to stay between two houses for what to check. For the move itself, book house removals and keep the airport trip as a separate booking.
